Baby Blankets and A Lovely Cowl

Ayni Baby Blanket Cowl Debbie Bliss Dream in Color

Hey guys, welcome to Knit Nirvana News. Check out the three awesome patterns that I’ve been obsessing over this week.

Pattern 1

I just added this Sprouting Baby Blanket by Judy Kaethler into my library. This pattern is a beautiful knit blanket that primary uses a garter stitch.

It’s a free Ravelry download and we happen to carry the exact yarn it calls for:  Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.  We are well stocked in over a dozen  beautiful colors. Take a look at the picture to pick out what color is perfect for you!

 Pattern 2

Or if you’re looking for a baby blanket knit with worsted weight, I personally like the Sprout Blanket by Hanna Breetz. The blanket had got a beautiful leaf pattern, and is a bit more challenging.

This would be beautiful in two skeins of Dream in Color Classy (or Classy with Cashmere) or two skeins of Madelinetosh Vintage yarn, which both have the added bonus of being machine washable - let’s be real babies can be a mess.

Pattern 3

And finally, I have to show you the Forester Cowl, designed by Helene Rush. This pattern creates a beautiful light weight cowl that anyone would love to wear.

I started it a couple of days ago using Ayni, a new yarn, that is baby Alpaca and silk for next-to-skin softness and drape. I am modifying the pattern to include a knit lining, so that I can cover up the fair-isle floats. It is a pleasure to knit. If you’re local, stop in and I’ll show you how to add the lining.

Here's how mine is coming along:

And yes, we do keep gluten free cookies in the shop. (;

That's all for this week guys! Check back in a couple of weeks for another roundup of my favorite patterns!
